New Government of Alberta grant focusing on enhancing energy efficency is now available to producers and agri-processors.

"The Farm Energy and Agri-Processing Program shares costs with the agriculture and agri-processing sector on energy efficiency investments. The program is designed to encourage energy management which will result in cost savings, energy conservation, and ultimately, reduced greenhouse gas emissions."

The grant is first-come, first-serve.
Grant maximum is $250,000/applicant/year. New builds and retrofits are eligible. Cost sharing is 20/80 or 50/50 after expenses have been incurred. Reimbursement for eligible expenses is retroactive to April 1, 2016.

Eligible projects listed for producers include: energy audits and assessments; electricity, natural gas, and liquid (fuel or water) submeters; building insulation; energy efficient lighting; heating and refrigeration; ventilation; energy-free outdoor livestock water fountains; and others.
