ALP is pleased to announce that the Board of Directors has fulfilled the vacant Interim Director position. While we currently await his formal appointment from Marketing Council, we are pleased to welcome Kevin Spahich to the Board of Directors. As this is an interim position, an election will be required for the position at the ALP AGM on November 28, 2020.
Kevin and his wife Lexie raise Katahdin Sheep, and currently have 65 ewes and 115 lambs. They have had a variety of wool sheep breeds in the past and moved into Dorper/Katahdin hair breeds approximately 7 years ago before primarily raising Katahdins. They have been Alberta Lamb Producers since 2011, after moving to the province in 2010. They farm part time near the small community of Marwayne, AB, about half an hour from the communities of Vermilion and Lloydminster. In addition to sheep they also have registered purebred Nubian Goats and Lexie has had numerous provincial and national awards over the years (including grand champion).
Kevin served on the local Lloydminster and Region Community Futures board of directors from 2013 to 2020, and served as Vice-chair for the past two years. Three years ago he was selected to represent the North East region on the provincial Board (Community Futures Network of Alberta), and hopes to work with the organization again in the future. Kevin understands board governance, strategic planning, budgeting, as well as how to develop and follow policies & procedures. He has a Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Education, Masters degree, and worked for a number of companies and government offices prior to moving to Alberta. He is currently teaching high school science and construction.
