Beginner Sheep Shearing Course

July 21 and 22, 2026 in Alhambra. This course is designed for beginner shearers. Taught by John Beasley, registrants will learn and apply their skills hands on. Come prepared to learn lots, work hard, and meet fellow shearers!

Event Details

July 21 and 22, Alhambra, Alberta. $300 per registrant. Plan for two full days of theory and hand on experience. Lunch both days and supper Tuesday evening are included, sponsored by the Alberta Lamb Producers. There is room for camping on site, but no hookups. Hotels can be found in nearby Red Deer and Rocky Mountain House. The exact location of the course will be shared with registrants. Registrants are encouraged to bring equipment they may have. There will be some equipment available to borrow.

Registration Process

The course is limited to 15 participants. Please pay by e-transfer to info@ablamb.ca, using ‘Shear2026’ as the password. Registrations will be confirmed once payment is received. There is room for camping on site, but no hookups. Hotels can be found in nearby Red Deer and Rocky Mountain House. The exact location of the course will be shared with registrants. Registration deadline is July 9.
