Livestock and poultry producers impacted by water shortage and drought conditions can receive streamlined temporary livestock water assistance through Alberta Environment and Protected Areas (EPA).
Producers who have an urgent need for water should contact EPA for support to identify alternative water sources and receive authorization for use under the Water Act.

Growing Opportunities: Post-Secondary Student Wage Subsidy
Fall 2023 term - A focus on underrepresented groups
As an agriculture employer, you rely on many different skill sets to accomplish the day-to-day tasks required to run your business. With the sector evolving constantly, the need for new skills is only going to be greater.
CAHRC's Growing Opportunities wage subsidy program supports agriculture employers as they hire post-secondary students for Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placements. Funding covers up to 50% of wages, unless you hire a student that is one of the following: a first-year student, woman in STEM, Indigenous student, newcomer to Canada, visible minority or persons with disabilities. In that case, funding covers up to 70% of wages.
Funded by the Government of Canada through the Student Work Placement Program, Growing Opportunities is available for registered Canadian businesses, start-ups, and not-for-profits related to the primary agriculture sector.
This is your opportunity to bring in new skills and play a part in growing the future of the AgriWorkforce. Applications for placements will be available for Fall 2023 term on August 1, 2023.

ALP Town Hall Meeting Cancelled
At the Thursday, June 15, 2023 ALP Board Meeting, the upcoming July 5, 2023 Town Hall meeting was discussed by your Directors. Unfortunately, due to poor registration numbers by producers and no speakers confirmed for the producer panel, they have made the decision to cancel this event.
Even though the meeting itself is cancelled, ALP still wanted to share the meeting pack that was put together as it provides important, written updates for our producers to be aware of.
