It is important to note that this tag fee increase is solely coming from CCWG and is not associated with ALP check off, which has not been increased since January 1, 2008.

Shearwell Tag Price Increase

Shearwell Data Livestock Systems has been a strong industry partner within the Canadian sheep industry. The company has worked hard to delay inevitable fee increases as long as they could and that is appreciated. In fact, it has been 14 years since Shearwell has been supplying the tags for the CSIP program and this is the first ever price increase to Canadian producers. The time has come, hough t however, that the price has to go up! Accordingly, the Canadian Cooperative Wool Growers will be increasing the fee charged on CSIP tags as of July 1, 2023 at all retail locations. The single CSIP tags will retail 25 cents higher per tag while the combo tags (purebred pair tags) will increase by 30 cents/pair. The pricing increase is entirely represented by the corresponding increases in tag costs, freight rates and domestic logistic costs thus ensuring that the CSIP tags are offered to producers across Canada at the leanest pricing possible.
