Peace River Lamb Association is in the process of organizing the 5TH ANNUAL Peace Country Sheep Conference.
This year's conference will be held on JUNE 17TH (please note the changeof date) at the Rycroft Ag Center in Rycroft.Registration at 9:00 and speakers will start at 9:30 sharp. Lunch will be provided.
This year's speakers include:
- Jennifer Woods, Livestock Handling Specialist, from Blackie AB. She will be talking about handling your flock and handling systems.
- Karin Lindquist, BSC AG Forage/Beef specialist, "Making Old Pastures New Again" Karin is from Stettler, AB
- Akim Omokanye ,Research Co-ordinator, Beef and Forage Society out of Fairview. He will give us information on cocktail cover crops.
- Kirk Cowell, who is a local sheep producer and will talk about his experiences growing and renewing his old pastures.
Please pass this along to anyone you know who may be interested in renewing their old pastures.
As a special addition to our program this year we will have some handling equipment on hand that some of our producers will bring in for display. These items have been useful in either handling, sorting or for lambing (a bonding crate as per Trevor Jones).
I am still looking for some pictures of systems, ideas that work for you, so we can have a slide show, a virtual farm tour. Going to see farms would be nice but unfornunately we live too far apart for that. So if you have some pictures you wouldn't mind sharing let me know. Please email them by May 31st.
To pre-register please contact me at this email or by phone at 780-864-3057 before June 10th.
Cost: membership renewal and conference fee is $25 (if you are already
a member of PRLA) non-members - membership fee and conference fee is $35 (if you are not a PRLA member currently)
