Expand the genetic potential of your flock by adding artificial insemination to your skill set. This producer's guide to trans-cervical AI in sheep is an intensive 2-day workshop, specifically for experienced shepherds.
Through lectures and hands-on experience you'll learn about:
ram collections
semen handling
synchronization of ewes
estrus v estrous
CIDRs v sponges
the process of trans-cervical insemination of a ewe

Dr. Carl Lessard, curator of the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's Canadian Animal Genome project Course fees include tuition. An AI kit will need to be purchased separately. The kit will be available from CCWG Livestock Supplies in Lethbridge. Details about cost and when the kits will be available will be posted on the Lakeland College website.
